Chatel offers a charming, truly French village ambiance alongside all the ease and convenience of a modern, efficient ski resort. The village straddles the Swiss border and the traditional mountain architecture is very much still in evidence with old, rustic chalet style buildings long since converted into apartment dominating the resort centre. A good selection of shops and restaurants, many offering delicious local Savoyard specialities, provide the apres ski entertainment along with a cinema showing English films and a vibrant bar and pub scene.
And what about the skiing and snowboarding?
Endless possibilities! The local slopes surrounding Chatel, (Linga, Super Chatel, Petit Chatel), linked by piste and lifts are perfect for mileage hungry intermediates who will love the largely blue gradient slopes giving you a real sense of travel across the mountain. You will find wonderful mountain views over towards the the “Dents du Midi” on French-Swiss border and authentic mountain chalets serving delicious local cuisine.
The more adventurous will love the quick access over to Avoriaz with its high snow sure slopes and challenging terrain including the infamous “Swiss Wall” piste.
