Samoens

Just one hour from Geneva airport, leave your front door in the morning and be on the piste by lunchtime! Now that’s what we call the perfect short break ski holiday destination.

Not merely convenient, Samoens really is a jewel of the French Alps, the only ski resort listed as an historic monument due to it’s medieval stone architecture, Samoens is a breathtakingly beautiful village. A traffic free centre, ancient linden trees, a stunning church, vibrant rural market, stone fountain and narrow streets all add to the effect as does the stunning views offered by the surrounding towering mountains on the French, Swiss and Italian borders.

Samoens has a thriving local community not entirely dependent on tourism which gives the visitor a real sense of modern French Alpine life. The shops are impressively varied the restaurants and bars are, as you would expect, traditional and full of good humour. Those wishing to sample a vibrant, late night life scene are offered a limited range, though the obligatory Irish bar, Coveys provides good craic.

And what about the skiing and snowboarding?

Awesome! This is France’s 5th largest ski area on a par with Val d’Isere and Tignes for the extent and variety of the pistes. You get a real sense of travel across the resorts of Samoens, Morillon, Les Carroz and Flaine. Huge new investment continues to be ploughed into the modern lift and snow making systems!
